Scripture Memory 1/1/2020

Happy New Year from Building Bridges Ministry! In a few days we will be celebrating epiphany, which was the manifestation of Christ to us as represented by the Magi.

Matthew 2:11 – And they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented Him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

Man! Can you imagine what it must have been like to walk into that house and see little Jesus with His mother? What gift would you have given Him? It’s not too late to give Him your gifts! When you are obedient to Him, you are worshiping Him. When you love others, you are loving Him. When you use a gift or ability He has given you so you can help others, you are making Him smile. Don’t sell yourself short in your abilities. God created you just the way you are for a reason. He can use anything we are willing to give to Him. I never sang in a choir growing up, but He has led me to singing in my church every Sunday morning. I haven’t had any training in writing, other than high school, yet, He used me to write and publish two devotionals. I never prayed outloud until the day He had me organize a prayer group at work. Crazy stuff, right? That’s how God works. He helps us to discover our talents and passions and uses them for His kingdom, if we will cooperate. He is able to show His power and faithfulness to us if we allow Him to lead us to places we never dreamed of going. I shared late last year that we were looking into a podcast for 2020.  Some of you participated in my Facebook poll and I thank you for that!  While the podcast thing is very exciting, it’s also something I don’t know much about.  Earl and I have been praying for God’s direction and wisdom in this area.  Would you join us?  God has been so faithful to provide us help from friends, so we know this is the direction to go for 2020.  To allow us time to do the podcast, we will have scripture memory once a month going forward.  We will see how this goes and adjust as we need to adjust.  God is a faithful God.  God is a loving God.  God is a caring God.

I hope you will decide today to make 2020 the year you make a clear vision (2020 vision), of what you can and will do for God. You will want to take some time think about what you want to accomplish, and then start on your plan to make it happen. A good plan will be written down (on paper or in your phone), and it will include deadlines for them to happen. You will also want to tell a friend, so they can help hold you accountable and encourage you along the way. You should share your specific prayers for these things and ask them to join you. I’m not talking about telling them what you are doing and stopping there. I’m talking about sharing your prayer request. For example, you can tell them what God has placed on your heart to do this year. Then ask them to join you praying each morning for God’s direction, wisdom, and strength. As God reveals things to you, you can ask for specific prayer needs along the way.  Some of you saw my posting on Facebook of Earl and I having our annual Christmas dinner date. We like to enjoy a nice quiet dinner together and talk through what we want to accomplish the next year. We start to figure out what we need to change in order to make those things happen. Sometimes we need to stop doing things, sometimes we need to start doing things, and sometimes we need to adjust our schedules to allow the time we need to accomplish our goals.

If you’re not sure what your gift is, start there. Ask God to reveal your gift to you. Ask God to use your passion. Then ask God to give you opportunities to begin showing His love to others. Once you ask for these things, immediately start looking for opportunities because I promise you opportunities are all around you. The opportunity may be in a way you never thought of before. That’s what is so cool about God, see. He will reveal to you how He can use you in a circumstance. You just have to be willing to cooperate, especially if you think it doesn’t make sense, or if you feel you aren’t qualified. At that moment in steps God’s power. He will show you something about Him in the process. Staying in the moment is a tough one for me because I am a “what if” person. I can “what if” a situation to death. Truly. I have begun to recognize this tendency and pray for God’s help to stay in the moment so I can fight off the enemy who is trying to derail me. The bigger the impact for God’s kingdom, the harder the enemy will work to derail you. Whatever your weakness, that’s where the enemy starts. Whatever you embark on this year for God, please please please stay in prayer about it. Be specific in your prayer.

When God shows Himself faithful to you, give God the glory and praise! That’s one way to help others see Jesus through you.

Let 2020 be the year you begin to recognize the power of God in your life.

Build bridges and allow God to change your life. You will never regret it.

In His love,
Tini
