John 4:24 says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth. “
Truth means sincerity. Worship is our response to who God is to us, so it can happen at various times and places. It’s not just when we go to church. We are told in this verse to worship God in real sincerity. When we go to church to worship in corporate worship, we should respond sincerely to who God is to us, without worrying about what the guy next to us is doing or thinking. This may leave you vulnerable because your true response, in all sincerity, is to stand with your hands raised high, while all around you, folks are sitting. Remember the story about the little boy that was going into big church for the first time? His parents were preparing him for the hour ahead, so they had talked to him all morning about what to expect. When they walked into the sanctuary, they reminded him that when church started, he was to sit down and be quiet. He said,”ok, I’ll be sitting down on the outside but I’ll be standing up on the inside!” Gotta love his sincerity. He was so excited to be in church that he wanted to stand for Jesus! On the other hand, as you remember who God has been to you through the week, are you feeling reverence, so you sit with your head bowed? Maybe you are in awe of your God and what He has done for you, so you fall to your knees?
Start by remembering who God is to you. Has He healed you? Has He comforted you? Has He gone before you, fighting your battles as your defender? What is your response to that? Worship your God in Heaven today.
Build bridges and allow God to change your life. You will never regret it.
In His love,
