Scripture Memory 5/1/2019

I was so excited to have this session’s lesson come from one of my favorite places (and Mallory’s too!). Earl and I have become friends with Julie, the owner of Lucky Dawg. Julie and I were talking one day, and I had chills as she told me her story and gave God all the glory. Apparently she was a rebellious child. She remembers walking past a plaque many times that was on the wall of her house. She told me it was just decoration to her. Well, as she sat in the car with her mother, she was really afraid. You see, she was on her way to catch the bus for boot camp. Yep. Julie was joining the Army. All she could think about was in a few short hours, she was going to be alone. She would not know one single person. Understandably, this young girl was ready to back out. At that moment, the words on that plaque came to her mind. They were the words of Jeremiah 29:11. In that moment, the Bible came to life for her. She knew no matter what happened, God was with her and she was going to be ok. It’s no surprise that Jeremiah 29:11 is her favorite verse. It’s perfect for our devotion as many children are graduating and beginning the next chapter in their lives.
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Jeremiah was telling those exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon they would be there for seventy years and should adjust their lives accordingly. If you read this verse in the original language, God says, “I have designated a purpose that I have devised for each of you. Plans for a reward in the end and a hope. “
If you are a parent, please share God’s Word with your children, no matter their age. They may seem like they aren’t listening, but they are.
No matter your line of work, honor God. He wants to bless you. Why? Because He wants you to tell others of His goodness. Why? Because He wants you to make Him known to others. Why? Because He has plans for a reward in the end and a hope.
Build bridges and allow God to change your life. You will never regret it.
In His love,
