Scripture Memory 8/1/2019

We are looking in the book of James, Jesus’ half brother. In my studying, I read James spent so much time on his knees in prayer that they became as calloused as the knees of a camel. Did that comment give you visions of the famous camel that celebrates Wednesday? It did me! Now you have a little glimpse of what is floating around in my head as I’m studying. ?
All joking aside, if you would like to enhance your prayer life, check out James 5:16.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
First, back up to the beginning of the chapter so you can have the context of this verse.
In the original language, this verse tells us to acknowledge our offense to one another, and pray for one another, so you may be healed. An active prayer of someone whose heart is right with God has the power to prevail. This is talking about spiritual healing, if you have become weary. Have you been praying about something or serving in a certain capacity and beginning to feel weary? Mutual concern for one another is a great way to fight, or combat discouragement. This isn’t talking about “misery loves company”. It’s talking about sharing with someone in your church family so they can join you in prayer and help encourage you. I have a couple ladies in my life that I consider my prayer partners because I know, without a doubt, I can ask these ladies to join me in prayer, without giving them the details , and they will join me. I also know they will not judge me when I do share details. Personal confession and wholehearted prayer are also vital to this process. The great news is, as a Christian, you have the power to prevail inside you. You activate, or unlock, this power through earnest prayer.
I encourage you to start living out this verse today. Watch God do amazing things in your life as the Bible comes to life for you.
Build bridges and allow God to change your life. You will never regret it.
In His love,
