I was reminded of a promise in a scripture that I have read many times before. I had applied the truth and experienced it for many years, however, I realized God was reminding me to believe it once again.
Have you ever had a splinter in your finger? I bet it was so annoying and painful you couldn’t forget it was there. How can something so small be so painful?!? It reminds you how human and weak you are, doesn’t it?
In 2 Corin 12, Paul tells us he was given a thorn in the flesh to keep him from becoming too proud or conceited. He even asked the Lord to take it away – 3 times! Here’s the best part……
2 Cor 12:9 – And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”
Jesus was saying God’s power is best accomplished in our weakness so we will know that He did it and not us. If we know we have done all we can do to fix something and THEN go to God about it, we know without a doubt that when it’s fixed, God fixed it. It couldn’t be us because we already tried all we knew to do. See?
I have an area of my life where I used to live this promise, but found myself asking God to take it away, over and over. God reminded me His grace is sufficient for me. I am acknowledging this “thorn in the flesh” for me is God’s way of keeping me grounded in His power. Does this magically remove the nerves? I wish! It does mean God’s got my back, though. Hopefully, when you see me trusting God and obeying God, in spite of the nervousness, it will encourage you to also trust and obey God, followed by telling others of His goodness. His grace is sufficient for you too.
Build bridges and allow God to change your life. You will never regret it.
In His love,
